FEARmanagh Triathalon

Many members of the club attended this year’s triathlon in Derrygonnelly once again to provide radio communications for the event.

The control station was setup in the club caravan, located outside the community centre in Derrygonnelly, using a Wouxon 2m radio as the main rig for the event, operated by both Gordon and David. This setup gave us good coverage throughout the event, apart from a few places which had to be relayed back to control through another amateur.

We operated from nine different locations throughout the duration of the event, moving as the competitors moved along the course. Herbie also operated mobile during the event, and made sure everything was running smoothly.

In total, over 300 people participated in the event, which stretched over 72km of road, track and water. It was a very successful day, with no injuries to report, just a few mechanical breakdowns! The British Red Cross were also providing their services for the day, and were stationed throughout the course, moving as the participants moved along the course.
